Under the 'Preferences' menu I have set proxy images to 800 x 600 pixels, which seems large enough for me to assess whether the image warrants additional post processing. From time to time, though, an annoying pop-up dialog appears (see attached) offering to set the proxy image size to that of the screen resolution (1680 x 944).

Why would I want to do that? Wouldn't the larger size take up more disk space for the proxy images?

I'd really like to see a 'Do not Show Again" check box on that dialog.

Hi,
While editing images, you could forseeably maximize the image display, beyond 800 pixels to the size of your screen. If your proxy image is smaller than that, then StudioLine will access the original image in the image archive to obtain a bitmap in the necessary size - which normally would be transparent to you.
However, StudioLine also supports "externally stored" images, where StudioLine only maintains the proxy image plus a 'reference' to the original file, which might reside on a CD/DVD. If your proxy image is less than the screen size then StudioLine might have to be prompt you to locate and manually mount the media with the externally stored original, before StudioLine could continue. To avoid this potential disruption in your work-flow, the software suggests that your proxy images be at least screen size.
I will forward your suggestion regarding the "Do Not Show" to our development team. That does sound like a reasonable request.

Hi Andy

I store images externally and use Studioline mainly for image management. I almost always edit using an external photo editor (usually Photoshop or occasionally Pentax Photo Laboratory/Silkypix). I only use the proxy images for reviewing images so 800 pixel width is quite adequate for my needs.

Thanks for forwarding my request to the development team.

Cheers

Brian
